Who doesn't love an oasis? I stumbled upon this image of a bedroom and immediately stopped scrolling. This space is in a Ojai, California home designed by D.L. Rhein and captures all of the peaceful energy from the area. Ojai is known for being a favorite weekend retreat for many Angelenos - and for good reason. Nestled into the Topatopa Mountains, the little town has abundant natural beauty and architectural charm. With these surroundings in mind, I thought the designer did a fantastic job bringing that same appeal to the room.
There is a lot to admire about the room. Though the crisp walls and bedding are airy and understated, the gorgeous array of colors in the rug provide plenty of balance. I also love how they fused boho and glam elements with the industrious concrete floors. It's not every day that you see an animal skull, brass pendants, pink vintage rug, and oversized jute poufs in the same room, but it works.
Retreat Yo Self
I am a firm believer that your bedroom should feel like a retreat from the rest of the world, and this design nails that vibe. If you are looking to create an idyllic space to call your own, then I have great news for you! I pulled together a lookbook inspired by the D.L. Rhein room. I included a bed with head and footboards to help it feel a little more polished, plus added a seating area. After all, you deserve a spot to curl up with a mug of coffee and a good book.
